Come take a tour of my studio apartment on the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City. Stick around ’til the end of the video to see my apartment empty and the sign I saw just outside as I was leaving the building for the last time. I used artwork from friends and family and lots of affordable items from Home Goods, Walmart.com, Amazon, to furnish on a tight budget. Much of my decor is inspired by Iran/Persia and many of the pieces are gifts from relatives overseas. It’s not exactly reflective of my “style”, but it holds a very special place in my heart because it was my very first place on my own. I was forced to move out exactly 5 years to the day I moved in, because the building is being renovated and leases were not renewed. This video is mainly for myself, to have a memory of my “Lily Pad”.
P.S. If you’re curious about the rent – when I first moved in, in 2011, rent was $505 a month including most utilities (an extra $20 a month average for electricity) and by the time I moved out in May of 2016 I was paying $550 (only a $45 increase in 5 years, not bad!)
